Over 531,000 Kentuckians are living with diabetes* – ranking us in the top ten nationally for individuals suffering from the disease. In addition to the day-to-day monitoring and maintenance, a diabetes diagnosis also has an economic drain on Kentucky families with medical expenses totaling approximately 2.3 times more than those who do not suffer from diabetes.
Since its inception in 2008, the UK Barnstable Brown Diabetes Center (BBDC) has been a leader in diabetes prevention, education, research and comprehensive care. The center assists more than 7,500 adult patients and 2,500 pediatric patients each year in the management and treatment of diabetes and related diseases.
At the Barnstable Brown Diabetes Center we provide Kentuckians access to nationally ranked diabetes care and education, and work daily to find a cure so that future generations will have a life free of diabetes. Join us in our fight by making a gift that will help us inch closer to a cure!
