The Health Sciences Academic Fund for Excellence supports student education in the College of Health Sciences. Students in our professional programs spend hundreds of hours beyond the classroom in clinical settings. These experiences help prepare our students well for careers in healthcare – the job placement rate for nearly all CHS programs is at 98 percent or higher – but does not position them well to work while enrolled full-time. As a result, many CHS students often graduate with extensive student debt.
The need for student scholarships is great. Currently, CHS awards scholarships based on need and academic success. Additional support for the fund would make is possible to financially assist more students and make more opportunities available. For example, the college would like to have scholarship dollars available to recruit incoming students and support education abroad.
In addition to providing scholarships to students based on need and academic success, CHS is able to make emergency funds available to students. Students can apply any time during the school year when they are in or near a crisis which will impact their education. Every gift is appreciated and has the power to change lives. Our goal is $15,000 .
