The Healthy Kentucky Research Building is a new 300,000-square-foot research facility in the heart of UK's biomedical research campus. The $265 million facility—paid for by a combination of state funds and private philanthropy—brings together basic scientists, clinicians, engineers and behavioral scientists to address the state's most pronounced health disparities. Kentucky is among the nation's leaders in deaths from cancer, diabetes and obesity, cardiovascular diseases including stroke, and opioid overdoses. Ultimately, 500 scientists (principal investigators, postdocs, graduate and undergraduate students), in these health disparity areas will work in this unique facility. You can help UK Research complete collaborative spaces, like the 100-seat auditorium on the first floor, and outfit wet labs to bring scientists and clinicians together to develop solutions that are rapidly translated to communities where they can make a difference.
