The Honors Alumni Fund promotes the mission of the University of Kentucky Lewis Honors College to better the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the world by helping students to explore their purpose, develop intellectually, and lead with integrity. To fulfill this mission, we believe that means extending our approach to interdisciplinary education beyond the confines of the classroom. The Honors Alumni Fund is designed to inspire intellectual curiosity among Lewis Honors College students through transformational experiences like undergraduate research, conference travel, study abroad, internships, service learning and leadership programs.
In order to maximize the impact of the Fund, the Dean of the Lewis Honors College or their designee(s) will allocate grants to deserving students for high-impact, co-curricular activities and programs outside the classroom. The Fund will initially be non-endowed, but if the contributed value reaches a minimum of $25,000, the University may convert it to an endowed fund; the purpose and administration of which will remain the same. The goal of the fund is to raise $500,000 within the next three to five years.
The Honors Alumni Fund was named in recognition of the broad network of University of Kentucky Honors alumni of yesterday, today and tomorrow. Though this Fund, we hope to broaden the academic and personal development opportunities available to a new generation of Honors students. The Lewis Honors College was born from a program deeply rooted in interdisciplinary learning and academic excellence, and has grown into a budding community of scholars and leaders. The support of Honors alumni and friends like you ensures that Honors will remain evergreen at the University of Kentucky.
