The Veterans Resource Center serves to assist our men and women in uniform as they transition into higher education - and to provide resources to help ensure their continued success as they pursue their degrees at the University of Kentucky.
Veteran and active duty students are a truly special and uniquely important part of our Wildcat community, and the VRC was founded as a dedicated resource to better meet the unique needs of our students in uniform.
Our resources and services are not just open to veterans but also military students actively serving in the National Guard and Reserve, and family members attending UK utilizing VA educational benefits.
Even with the generous post-9/11 GI Bill benefits, many of our students encounter financial need along the way to degree completion. They all juggle their education along with other responsibilities that come with being an adult. If this financial need is insurmountable, many will drop out of school and not achieve their goal of graduating from the University of Kentucky. In addition, those military connected students who may not qualify for GI Bill or only qualify for a portion of it, also face an uphill financial battle.
To assist these students, we rely on the Veterans Scholarship Gift Fund. It is an invaluable part of what we do here at the Veterans Resource Center. Our scholarship fund provides need based financial assistance designed to improve retention and graduation rates for our student veterans and military connected students. It serves as an investment in our future here in the Commonwealth as well as a pillar of our commitment to these students who willingly bore the burden of our nation’s defense.
