Bilal ibn Rabah Scholarship Fund

The Bilal ibn Rabah Scholarship promotes the University of Kentucky's Strategic Vision of Diversity and Inclusion. In order to obtain the educational benefits of a diverse student body, the University will aggressively admit and retain students from all segments of society including students of different races, ethnicities, socioeconomic status, sexes, sexual orientation, gender identities, disability status, religious traditions, political beliefs, and geographic backgrounds. Factors that are considered in the holistic evaluation of applicants include contribution to diversity, test scores, grades, essay, leadership experience,extracurricular activities, awards and recognition, and community service. Awards will be based on the applicant's ranking within the competitive pool, with values varying based on meritorious criteria.

The name of this scholarship reflects the spirit of perseverance and determination to face and overcome any adversity in life. Bilal ibn Rabah embodies all of these characteristics and more. Therefore, this scholarship has been established to reward deserving students who have overcome a variety of adversities,or are inspired by the story of Bilal and see themselves standing for justice and equality in the same manner that he did, and have the desire to pursue their academic and life goals at the University of Kentucky.

The Bilal ibn Rabah Scholarship is reflective of civic engagement and community service. All awardees will have the opportunity to participate in various civic engagement options including University of Kentucky Center for Community Outreach, University of Kentucky Wildcat Ambassador Program,University of Kentucky Center for Student Philanthropy, University of Kentucky Student Government Association and the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Offices.

The lucky donor who makes the 1865th gift on One Day For UK will win an extra $1865 to their selected college, program, or cause!
1st Time Donor Challenge
A lucky donor who makes their first-ever gift to UK will be highlighted to win an additional $250 for their selected college, program, or cause!
Come Together for a Cause
Students! Follow UK Philanthropy on Instagram/Twitter/Facebook by 10:00pm on #OneDayforUK and tag one friend and your favorite college, program or cause in the comments. The college, program or cause with the most tags will win $500 and you'll be entered to win a swag bag for you and your friend.
Facebook Likes Challenge
Go to the UK Philanthropy Official Facebook page to find the One Day for UK Likes challenge post. Like the photo of the college, program or cause of your choice and those with the most likes between Monday and Noon on #OneDayforUK will win the challenge.
Throwback Thursday
You know what day it is! Throw it back to when you were the cool kid on campus and use #OneDayforUK for a chance to win an additional $250 for your favorite college, program, or cause! Be sure to tag them in your post or mention them in the caption.

Share Your UK Family Challenge
Does your family bleed blue? Post a photo of you, your family, your pets, or any member of your Big Blue family dressed up in UK gear. Post your picture on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, include the hashtag #OneDayforUK, and tag your favorite UK college, program or cause. One lucky photo will win $250 for their selected college, program, or cause!
Small Programs + Centers Leaderboard
The small program or center who has the most donors on #OneDayForUK! 1st place wins $1000, 2nd place wins $500.
